Dearest Podficcer,

This is my general podficcer exchange letter, which is pretty much an extension of my general exchange letter, but with more information for podfic, like fandoms! My general exchange letter is where you'll find my tropes and podfic likes, and is a letter I update frequently. This letter will serve as what my exchange sign-up usually does: telling you the fandoms, pairings, and characters I like. Please refer to this letter for my DNWs regarding podfic requests for events like Podfic Summer Swap.

My AO3 is buries, although you will most likely find my Tumblr reflects my obsessions best, which can be found at finnicks. (Please do not take my AO3 bookmarks to be a true representation of what I like; I have a conservative approach with my bookmarks, and I don't read a lot of fic anymore. My Tumblr and rec posts are your best bet.)

What I'm primarily looking for when requesting podfic is to be exposed to new stories and authors.

WRITING LIKES

• English as the main language, please. If you pick a fic that has another language because characters slip into it from time to time, please pod it. (I won't be able to understand it if it isn't in English.)


• I prefer close third POV stories that follow one character's POV (unless it's a multichapter). I like second person POV. I would like to opt out of first person POV unless it's Joe Goldberg.


• I like strong characterisation that feels like it has roots in canon. That's to say I'm not interested in drastic changes to characters that change the fundamentals of who they are, i.e., Bucky Barnes not experiencing torture at HYDRA takes away the elements of his character that I like seeing explored in fiction.


• I love shippy stories, including smut. I am happy for you to give me PWP, porn with plot, stories that imply sex and fade to black—whatever is within your comfort zone!


• I also like gen stories, preferably strong friendship dynamics and found family.


• I like character and relationship studies. Stories that dig into what makes a character them are really fun, and I like seeing characters challenged.


• I enjoy dysfunctional relationships and explorations of toxicity. With that said, I also like healthy relationships!


• If the canon is dark, and you find a dark story that you think I'll like, go for it. I only ask that it doesn't contain any of my DNWs. Some of the canons I like have the potential to go darker than they do.


• I enjoy world building.


• Enjoy yourself! I like listening to podfics where it's evident the podficcer is enjoying themselves, so if you're liking it, I'll like it. :)

PODFIC MY WRITING

I'd absolutely love it if you felt compelled to podfic one of my stories as a gift for myself or someone else! I have a blanket permission statement and ask that you credit it to "buries" rather than any of my pseuds (in case I shuffle things around or delete my pseuds).

I have marked the stories I like most with "Podfic Welcome"; however, if a story that I haven't tagged as that is one you'd like to record, please go ahead and do so. I appreciate any recordings of my work, and like knowing that someone enjoys a story that I may not appreciate in its entirety. I will always accept the "inspired by" link and listen.

If the story has been podded before (by myself or someone else), please feel free to re-pod it. No one has ever said no to more cake at the buffet (unless it's made of Vegemite). I'd love to hear your take, especially if it's a work I've podded!

Alicent bashing. She's a child who had to raise children, who never received love or kindness as a child and is incapable of emotionally connecting to her children, and that's something I love about her character.

• Animal abuse or cruelty. Brief references are fine if it's needed for the story. I'd like to opt out of receiving a gift that details how the abuse happened.


• AUs that change the settings (modern au, space au, regency au, medieval au), characters' species (monster au, wings au), and mundane Aus (coffee shop or any shops, high school aus, musician aus). I like soulmates AUs.


• Character bashing where the focus on a particular character is only extremely negative, i.e. they're consistently put down to advance the requested relationship with it made very clear that they have no redeeming qualities whatsoever.


• Crack.

• Deathfic where a requested character dies and it's an unhappy ending.


• Domestic violence and violence against women (unless it's Joe Goldberg because he's… whatever).
